Kingenta holds the closing ceremony for its acquisition of Compo in Frankfurt

On the evening of July 11 and the morning of July 12 local time in Germany, Kingenta Group held a merger and acquisition completion ceremony and signing ceremony for the acquisition of Compo GmbH in Frankfurt, Germany. With this, this largest overseas acquisition case in China's fertilizer industry was successfully concluded. In this acquisition case, Eurasian Consulting GmbH served as the sole buyer's advisor to Kingenta, participating throughout and facilitating the transaction.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Zhang Shuping, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Linyi. Those witnessing the transfer included Guo Shuqing, Deputy Party Secretary and Governor of Shandong (back row, centre); Wang Hua, Secretary-General and Director of the General Office of the provincial government; Qian Huantao, Director of the Economic and Information Technology Commission; She Chunming, Director of the Commerce Department; Xue Qingguo, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office; Wang Weidong, Minister-Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Germany; Li Guang, head of Bank of China’s Frankfurt branch; Triton representative Andi Klein; Tan Qinggong, Secretary-General of Linyi’s municipal government; Ren Qinghu, Party Secretary of Linshu County; Kingenta Chairman Wan Lianbu; Compo CEO Stephen Engster; and other participants.

Through this acquisition, Kingenta gained world-leading technology, brand, team, and marketing channels, completing a crucial leap in its long-pondered internationalization strategy and joining the ranks of truly multinational fertilizer companies. This will open up a new transformation pathway for China's challenged agriculture and the fertilizer industry's move towards globalization.

Kingenta Group Chairman Wan Lianbu stated in his speech that the acquisition of Compo is a strategically significant event in Kingenta's development history, marking a breakthrough in Kingenta's internationalization. We will take this opportunity to actively utilize Compo's advanced technology and development capabilities to rapidly bring Kingenta's R&D capabilities to world-leading levels, becoming a benchmark for China's intelligent manufacturing in the fertilizer sector; comprehensively outputting specialty fertilizer technology to the industry, promoting technological progress and transformation and upgrading in China's fertilizer industry; fully leveraging Compo's brand influence and global marketing network to rapidly promote Kingenta's controlled-release fertilizers, water-soluble fertilizers, and other new fertilizers to the global market, while introducing Compo's garden products for promotion in the Chinese market, achieving a comprehensive leap from leading in China to leading globally, serving global agriculture.

Triton fund partner Andi Klein said excitedly: "Compo Company has a history of 60 years, and my grandfather's generation started using it. In Germany, the Compo floral trademark is like a crown, almost all children recognize it. I believe that in future development, Kingenta will also make China and even the whole world know about it."

Compo CEO Stephen Engster said: “We are convinced that Kingenta is the ‘Mr. Right’ Compo has been looking for.” Kingenta has strong expertise in new fertilizers, while Compo enjoys an outstanding reputation in Europe. Their complementary strengths offer clear synergies, and Kingenta will bring new breakthroughs to Compo’s development.


Representatives from the seller fund, King & Wood Mallesons, PwC, Eurasian Consulting GmbH (second from the right), Compo Company, as well as representatives from Xinhua News Agency's Berlin bureau and other media, and over 60 representatives of the majority of Kingenta's employees participated in the handover ceremony.
