On October 18, the 2018 German Business Delegation Visit to China's Taicang leg was launched, jointly organized by the Investment Promotion Service Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce and the Taicang Municipal Government. Professor Hermann Simon, known as the "Father of Hidden Champions," visited Taicang again and, together with experts and entrepreneurs from both domestic and international circles, offered advice and suggestions for the development of Taicang.

At the "Lun Dao Taicang" forum on that day, Professor Simon and experts and entrepreneurs from China and Germany, along with officials from government departments, discussed and exchanged views on themes such as the development path of the "green environmental protection and intelligent manufacturing" industry in the new era and the practice and thinking of diverse German elements in urban construction. In Professor Simon's view, "green environmental protection and intelligent manufacturing" is not just the responsibility of producers; it should be a joint effort between producers and consumers, and a corresponding consumer-oriented approach must be established.

Currently, Taicang has gathered over 300 German enterprises with a total investment exceeding $4,500,000,000 and an annual output exceeding 50,000,000,000 yuan RMB. Nearly 50 of these are global "hidden champions" in their respective industries, attracting renowned German companies such as Schaeffler, KERN-LIEBERS, Trumpf, and Mubea. It has become one of the best, most densely populated, and most profitable regions for German enterprises in China, earning the reputation of the "German Enterprise Hometown" of China.
